The panel carries two different feeds and they should not be confused. Recent Activity shows what happens in your store: an order arriving, a new customer, stock running low, a payment received. What's new shows what happens in the platform: a feature added, a bug fixed, a behaviour changed. One is the pulse of your business, the other is the product's changelog.

## Before you start

- An account signed in to the panel
- At least one thing having happened in the store, for the activity feed to show

## Steps

### 1. Read the Recent Activity feed {#adim-1}

The Recent Activity card on the panel's main screen lists what happened in your store in time order. With nothing yet it reads No Recent Activity and says activity will appear as events occur. Once the list fills, the link underneath shows you the remaining activities.

### 2. Know which events land in the feed {#adim-2}

The feed carries every vital moment in the store: New order placed, Order shipped, Order delivered, Order cancelled, Payment received, Return requested, New customer registered, New review received, New product added, Product updated, Low stock alert, Coupon used and Campaign started. Reading it end to end once a day gives you an instinct no report does.

### 3. Clear the notification inbox {#adim-3}

The activity feed shows what happened; the Notifications inbox holds what is waiting on you. Narrow it with the All, Orders, Alerts and Customers tabs and separate the Unread ones. You can Mark as read individually, Dismiss an item off the list, or clear the lot with Mark all as read.

### 4. Open the What's new window {#adim-4}

What's new shows what has been released since your last visit. The window opens on its own; you can dismiss it with Got it, or see the whole history with All release notes. If several releases have accumulated, the window says how many more there are.

### 5. Tell the change types apart {#adim-5}

Each item says what kind of change it is: Added is a new capability, Changed means an existing behaviour is different, Fixed is a bug resolved, Improved is the same job done better. There are also Removed, Security and Deprecated — the last of which warns you in advance that a feature will end.

### 6. Know what to do when it will not load {#adim-6}

If the release notes cannot be loaded the panel says so plainly and asks you to try again shortly. That does not mean your store is down — only that the change list could not be read at that moment. If nothing has been released yet, the window states that separately.

## Tips

### Open the day with the activity feed

Report screens summarise the past; the activity feed tells you what is happening now. Looking at it first thing when you open the panel means you catch a return raised overnight or a stock level falling hours earlier than you otherwise would.

### Do not skip the Deprecated label

That label warns you that a feature working today will end at some point. Miss it and a workflow you depend on changes unexpectedly one day; see it and you have time to plan the alternative.

### Pair low stock alerts with reorder suggestions

When a low stock alert appears in the feed, look at the reorder suggestions on the procurement side. The two screens are two faces of the same event, and used together you order before the stock actually runs out.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the difference between Recent Activity and What's new?

Recent Activity shows what happens in your store: orders, customers, stock, payments. What's new shows changes to the platform itself: features added, bugs fixed. One is your data, the other is the product's release notes.

### Are Notifications and Recent Activity the same thing?

No. Recent Activity is a stream of what happened and has no read/unread state. The Notifications inbox holds what is waiting on you: you mark items read, dismiss them and filter them. Notification settings is a third thing again — it decides what reaches your customers on which channel, not what lands in your inbox.

### My activity feed is empty

The panel says there is no activity and that it will appear as events occur. That is normal on a new store; the list starts filling with your first order, first customer registration or first product.

### I dismissed the What's new window — can I open it again?

Yes. What's new can always be opened from the panel, and All release notes shows every past release. Got it only closes the window; it does not lose the notes.

### Does every release note concern me?

No. Notes are shown according to the features you have, so a change to a plugin you do not use never appears in your list. It is still worth reading anything labelled Security or Deprecated.
