How to translate your store content
Translate product, category, page and template text into your extra languages; see what is missing in one table and translate in bulk with Excel.
Adding a second language to your store translates the interface automatically, but not the content you wrote: product names, category descriptions, page copy, coupon and agreement text are yours. Translation Center gathers all of it in one place, shows how much of each content type is done as a percentage, and lets you fill the gaps.
Antes de empezar
- At least one extra language enabled on your store
- A panel account that can see the finance and content screens
- A program that opens Excel, if you plan to translate in bulk
Pasos
Las pantallas son ilustrativas; los datos de tu panel serán distintos.
Paso 1: Read the completeness table
Finance > Translation Center opens on the Completeness table: Content type down the rows, your enabled languages across the columns, and the completion percentage in each cell. With no extra language enabled the screen says so and the table stays empty. If you have a lot of rows, the panel notes that percentages were computed over the first 5000.

Translation Center covers far more than product names — nearly every record in the store that carries text: Products, Categories, Collections, Option groups, Options, Variants, Pages, Campaigns, Coupons, Product forms, Agreements and Email templates. The translated fields differ per type: Name and Description on a product, Meta title and Meta description on a page, Agreement text on an agreement.

Click a cell in the table and the rows for that content type in that language open. The Show only missing filter strips it down to untranslated records, so you work the gaps instead of reading a whole catalogue. Save a field and the panel confirms Translation saved. When nothing is left, the list says so plainly.

Rather than translating hundreds of products one field at a time, use Download Excel under Translation workbook (Excel). Send the file to your translator or fill it in yourself, then bring it back with Upload Excel. The panel reports how many rows were updated and how many cells changed; sheets it does not recognise are skipped and unmatched rows are reported with a count.

An Excel upload is never silent: the panel reports updated rows and cells, unrecognised sheets and unmatched rows separately. An unmatched row means the record in the file has no counterpart in the store — usually it was deleted, or an identifier column got mangled. Those rows are skipped and the rest of the translations are written.

Consejos
Leave the identifier columns alone
The downloaded file carries columns that tie each row to a record. Re-sorting is harmless, but deleting or editing those columns makes the row fail to match and its translation is never written.
Do not rename the sheets
Each sheet in the workbook maps to a content type. Add a new sheet or rename an existing one and the panel does not recognise it and skips it — naming the skipped sheets in the upload report.
Do not leave the meta fields empty
When Meta title and Meta description are untranslated, that language's page shows the primary language's text in search results. If product names read 100% in the completeness table but the meta fields are low, your SEO is still untranslated in that language.
Preguntas frecuentes
- The screen says no extra language is enabled
- Translation Center only does anything once your store has more than one language. Set up your store languages first; the moment an extra language is enabled the table starts filling in with a column for it.
- Why are percentages computed over the first 5000 rows?
- On very large catalogues, recounting completion on every open would make the screen slow. The panel states plainly when it has sampled. The ratio is approximate; which specific records are missing is exact.
- I saved a translation but the store still shows the old text
- A translation is specific to its language: browsing the store in the primary language, you will not see it. Switch language and look again. If the text is still old, make sure the field you translated is the one shown on that screen — you may have translated the short description while looking at the long one.
- Can I translate email templates too?
- Yes. Email templates are one of the content types in the list, and both the Email subject and Email body are translated. Order and shipping emails then reach a customer in their own language.
