Abandoned cart recovery setup
Set up the three-stage automatic reminder e-mails for customers who leave a full basket, tune the delays, and track your recovery rate in the panel.
A customer who filled a basket and left without paying is your cheapest sales opportunity: they already chose the product. The abandoned carts screen sends those customers a three-stage sequence of automatic e-mails and counts how many come back and order. Setup is one-off — flip the switch, set three delays, and edit the e-mail once.
Before you start
- Working outgoing e-mail (SMTP) settings for the store
- A panel user with permission to read customers
- The E-posta Şablonları plugin, if you want to change the e-mail copy — recovery itself runs without it
Steps
Screens are illustrative; the data in your own panel will differ.
Step 1: Open the abandoned carts screen
Pazarlama → Terk Edilen Sepetler opens with five counters: sent, opened, clicked, recovered and recovery rate. They cover the store's whole history rather than today, so they read zero straight after setup and stay there until the first stage delay elapses.

'Terk edilen sepet kurtarmayı etkinleştir' in the settings section is the master switch. While it is off nothing is scheduled and nothing already scheduled is sent. From the moment you turn it on, every eligible customer who leaves a basket starts a recovery session.

The three delay fields are in minutes. The detail that matters most: they are not cumulative — each is measured from the previous step. Stage 1 waits after the basket is abandoned, stage 2 after the first e-mail, stage 3 after the second. The defaults are 60, 1440 (one day) and 4320 (three days), so the third message goes out around the fourth day.

The wording does not live on this page but in the e-mail templates, as the note at the bottom of the settings says. That editor ships with the separately sold E-posta Şablonları plugin: without it the menu row is absent altogether and reminders keep going out with the default copy. With the plugin active, find the 'Sepet Kurtarma' template under E-posta → E-posta Şablonları and press 'Düzenle'. You can change the subject line and the HTML, and insert fields such as the customer's name and their basket contents from the variables list. Preview it, save, and if you dislike the result reset it to the default.

The table at the bottom shows each customer's stage (how many e-mails have gone), status and last update. The status takes four values: active means still in the sequence, recovered means they came back and ordered, completed means all three e-mails went with no result, and cancelled means they emptied the basket or opted out of e-mail. The selector on the right filters to one status.

Tips
'Completed' is not a success
A session becomes completed when all three e-mails have been sent and the customer still has not ordered. Success is the recovered count and the recovery-rate tile. Many completed sessions with few recovered ones means the problem is the copy, not the timing.
Changing the basket restarts the clock
If the customer adds or removes an item the sequence resets and starts again from stage 1. An undecided shopper can therefore receive the first e-mail far later than you expect, and a long stage 1 delay amplifies that effect.
Frequently asked questions
- Do guests get these e-mails too?
- No. Recovery is only scheduled for customer accounts that carry a real e-mail address. Guest sessions hold a placeholder record with no real address, so they are never queued at all.
- Are customers who opted out of e-mail contacted?
- They are not. No session is opened for a customer who has turned e-mail off in their notification preferences, and if they opt out after one has started, the open session is cancelled and the remaining stages are never sent.
- Why is the opened count so much lower than sent?
- Opens are counted by an image loading inside the e-mail. Mail clients that block images never report an open, so the figure reads lower than reality. Clicks and recoveries are the more reliable numbers to steer by.
